College Park School

College Park School is a 6800 m² K-9 school.  The design includes individual pods radiating from a central corridor as well as a daycare.  The pods serve as age-specific self-sufficient learning environments where each has its own distinct entrance, boot room, classrooms, learning resource space and washrooms – all located in close proximity to where they conduct their activities.  Outdoor spaces are also informally designated and designed for different age groups.  Students also get to enjoy the benefits of a centralized learning resource center, practical and applied arts spaced and the gymnasium.

The school has achieved LEED Silver Certification. Energy efficiency is incorporated into the design of the school and its systems. Solarwall is incorporated in the wall cladding on the south-facing gymnasium wall. The south-facing wall also allows the pre-heading of vitalization air in the colder months. Translucent panels are incorporated into most south- and west-facing fenestration. Other elements also include LED lights that utilize daylight harvesting technologies, controlling fan power, carbon dioxide sensors, and control schedules.
