The core is a permanent structure comprising all the instructional and non-instructional functional areas required, except classroom units. The permanent core includes associated washrooms, storage and support space required for the built-out capacity when all modulars are in place.
This two-storey facility includes features such as a naturalized landscape and multiple growing walls for science class. The building brings together students in a wide range of open, naturally lit instructional, gathering and collaboration spaces. An energy efficient mechanical system provides 100% outdoor air while environmentally sound finishes ensure continued healthy indoor quality. Landscaping and plumbing designs conserve water, while materials and finishes favour recycled and regional content. The school promises to be an inspiring facility for students to learn and grow through education. The Lois E. Hole School was granted LEED Silver Certification.
